Pollution in ports all around the world is affecting water and endangering the safety of marine living ecosystems but also human communities living nearby. To address this issue, Volvo found a solution in tires used as fenders in ports, turning them in Sea Defending Tires.
We developed a new fertilizing coating that when in touch with water, releases important organic components to mitigate water pollution and promote the growth of living marine organisms. Then, we intervened tire fenders with this new product in ports everywhere.
